The location is beautiful- but that's about it. I found myself wondering when something- ANYthing- would happen since there was virtually no plot. Basically, you watch a tortured genius try to get over his creative blocks through his liasions & fantasies. Whoopee. So self indulgent. There is no character development- so little in fact that the audience doesn't care for anyone, except possibly his wife. Watching DDL play the tormented soul gets really old really fast. The women are on & off for such short periods that we don't really care about them either. And we don't understand why they would care about this man who just uses people over & over again. Sadly, I couldn't wait for the whole movie to be over!
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Good action, not a Bond flick

Action scenes: great. Story line: not engaging. Characters: don't care for them. Bond? The only bond traditions were the Aston Martin, exotic locations and action. No gadgets, no Bond-like charm, bad guys never really developed, and M, who's usually a tough woman, wimps out before a British politician. Casino Royale was way better.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
