As for the whole strained relationship drama, they could have cut off a good half hour off the show. The mom at college was funny but unnecessary. The fight scenes, especially the hand to hand combat, were wicked and innovative.
This is the type of movie that everyone will either love or hate. I always find it interesting when people blast a dark comedy/satire for its acting/story... its akin to critiquing Borat or something. I think the movie was clever, and dark, and overall validating the cliche of today, where everyone has their own motivations and insecurities. I thought the characters were interesting, and the plot was true to its intention. Think of this movie as a dark satire combination of Seinfeld and Crash
