Since the story line is about a horse who goes to war, the title is not misleading. What is misleading about War Horse is that it actually attempts to pass itself off as anything more than a pile of what a horse would normally leave behind.
Shamelessly simple, dreadfully dull, and lacking any substance, the movie relies on either the possibility of three things happening to move the plot along...1. war horse is shot, 2. war horse is stolen, and 3. war horse is sold.
Take out these three plot twists and you're longing for any tangible character development or actual plot.
If you like to look at horses, rent Seabiscuit to save yourself the $10 and enjoy a decent horse and a boy story line.
As a marathon runner, it reminded me that while so many run, so many run for different reasons. As a man, it inspired me to take on something bigger than myself. A remarkable story and something I'll truly never forget.
This film leaves no doubt that everyone should be inspired by Michael's abilities as an entertainer. It is amazing to see him re-inspired, ready to shock the world, and at the top of his game. Fun to watch and to imagine what would have been the greatest performances of his career.
Slow pace, odd and mistimed reveals of plot points, confusing dialogue, and some random humor throughout the plot. Oh wait, I'm in another Soderbergh movie . . . I shouldn't have hoped for more than this. Matt Damon does a great job creating a character, but after you're past looking at Good Will Bellyfat, you don't have much of a movie left. Don't waste your time or money.
A fair / good summer movie. The film is all action with little to offer in the way of plot or character development. One comment - Christian Bale played this part like a robot, so it is difficult to see the difference between the machines and his acting. He should have played the role of the terminator.
