Lovable characters are back

I saw this with my 6 year old son and we both very much enjoyed seeing another Shrek movie. We own the first two. The 3rd was not so great to me, but this 4th installment made up for it. I love the twist of fate that Shrek finds himself in and enjoyed meeting the new ogre characters and a different side of Fiona. Donkey and Puss are great too in their roles and still create much of the comic relief. This was a more sensitive story and it even got me weepy at times, but none of that phased my six year old who knows nothing about what true love really means yet. I even enjoyed the Rumplestilskin character even though he was the evil one. It's hard to believe they can create such chemistry in an animated movie like this without ever being in the same room together. The only disappointment for me was the 3D. What was the point except to extract another $3 per ticket from us? I'm getting tired of almost everything coming out in 3D. But the kids think 3D is so cool that I guess they will continue to make movies this way.
