I've seen some reviews complaining about the cliches in this movie, and also some chat about it being "poverty porn." Yes, elements of the story are familiar. No, it is not a "message movie" that will "teach you something." But I for one am pretty willing to enjoy a movie in which love conquers. I go to the movies for entertainment, and was thoroughly entertained by "Slumdog Millionaire." It was sad, scary, funny, romantic, suspenseful. The visuals are beautiful, the music is irresistible, and the performances are terrific.
Could have been a little longer! A few minutes of downtime between the action pieces would not have hurt. If one pays attention, the story hangs together & the point of the whole adventure - to identify the unknown organization behind Vesper's death in "Casino Royale" - becomes clear. Craig is remarkable in the part. His female counterpart was well written and well played. "Quantum of Solace" is both the title of an original Fleming short story and a play on words. Bond's quantum of solace is not revenge but the resolution he helps bring to his partner and that he achieves through identifying the "villain."
