Go with an open mind and you'll be pleasantly surprised. This story has the original roots of Star Wars and Avatar plus similar outstanding special effects and visuals. The battle scenes are short but intense and you get into the characters after a while, plus there's a nice twist in the ending. Well done and more enjoyable than expected.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The visuals are amazing, the 3-D immersing you in Victorian London at Christmas time, while the story and words remain very true to the book. A fantastic achievement and a delight for years to come.
