Excellent adaptation. Excellent everything. It was truly fantastic. I just wish I could watch the second half...I wouldn't have minded paying double for two movies back to back you know...
The movie is almost always true to the book, considerably true to the characters (and the fans). I didn't want to see a version of the book or an interpretation of the book. I wanted what I read. Brilliant scenes, actors seem much more comfortable in their roles, the tone is exactly what it needed to be for this book as well. Kellan Lutz - Emmett is a hoot, Alice is definitely increasing her involvement although what on earth they made her wear?! Pattinson's make up is very real along with the rest of the Cullens'. Bella's depression is clearly evident even without any words.
Overall though - a BIG FAT success! LET US HOPE WEITZ WOULD DIRECT BREAKING DAWN 1 AND 2.
Golden Compass the movie, is a toned down version of the book with the same title. It is a tale of struggle between good and evil, religion and scholars, truth and lies...etc. With a flare that reminds me of the Lord of the Rings but for a younger audience, I would definitely recommend the movie. It is enjoyable but remember the author has a "trilogy" of books. !!!
