Right up there with "Remember the Titans" and "Facing the Giants" -- this mom and my 8-yr-old
football nut loved it
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The best movie ever made? Would you believe... it's at least a delightfully clever spin on Comic Gods Mel Brooks/Buck Henry's 60's TV series. Fast, funny, full of outrageous stunts. Steve Carell as Max shows such tender intensity (despite the disconcerting age difference) for Anne Hathaway's 99 that the romance is just as strong as the comedy. Looks like it's set up for the sequel - "Get Smarter"?
Yes, I recommend this movie.

trapped inside a videogame

Of course I took my 8 yr old opening weekend. Yep he loved it. But I ran into a grownup friend out at the popcorn midfilm who said "I am soooo bored" -- which just about sums it up. For a sentient adult it was like being trapped in a videogame, much like National Treasure 2: both plots depend on advanced civilizations who for some reason excelled at massive stone-based hide-the-treasure technology. Guess you don't need to oil the mechanism over the centuries. The Spielberg "magic" felt awfully creaky despite the game efforts of the cast. And why why so many cobwebs? Yale has never looked better though!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

my 8 yr old was in heaven

My 8 yr old boy just got a glimpse of kung fu plus a smidgen of Chinese culture for our action movie dollar -- what's not to like! The countryside was gorgeous (cg or not). This slightly out-of-touch mom kept wondering how they got Shia LeBoeuf to look so macho -- until it dawned on me that it was the actor Michael Angarano making suburban pasty video-obsessed white kids everywhere realize there is Another Path to Enlightenment. Take your kid, they'll love it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
