Good movie but the book is much better

I took my 8 year-old son (who had listened to the book on CDs with me) and my 11-year old daughter who read the whole series. We enjoyed the movie, however, as it often the case, we all agreed that the book was MUCH better. In adapting the movie they changed the characters (the kids are are older, Annabeth isn't nearly as important as she is in the book, the battered mom situation doesn't exist), changed a lot of the story and omitted a lot of elements from the book (no Aries, no stolen helm of Darkness,among other things). There is also a lot of sexual innuendo, from the longings of the (now) teens, to the character of Persephone (which I don't think was in the book). So if that's a concern for you, be aware of it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
