Don't understand the critics, not nearly that bad

After all the bashing, I went into this with severely lowered expectations. Maybe that’s the key, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't expect it to be another T2, and nothing Bale does will live up to Dark Knight for awhile, but this just wasn't the disaster it's being made out to be. It's easily better than T3. Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese was a particular standout. I wish the entire movie had followed him. McG certainly is limited when it comes to directing actors (some of the scenes are truly bad, especially the first scene of the movie... awful) but the action is great and you can tell that he truly cared about moving the franchise forward. He didn't succeed, but I don't think he failed either. It's somewhere in the middle. 3.5/5
