Hancock is different from other superheros, and it works pretty well. Hancock is a grumpy, hard drinking loner who only wants to get the job done, no matter how much damage he does in the process. Bateman's character is bound and determined to turn him around and make him an admirable public figure. The pair have a rocky start, but once Hancock puts a little faith in his manager, things take a positive turn for him. The foul language may make this film unsuitable for little kids, but other than that, Hancock is a well-told story.
I took my Dad out to The Incredible Hulk as a Father's Day present, and we both had a great time! Edward Norton does an excellent job playing Buce Banner; he made the character believable and sympathetic. The Hulk is impressive too. He may be CGI, but the filmmakers went to great lengths to make the Hulk as realisic as possible. Not only is the Hulk's muscular build really something, but his facial expresions are so telling, you can see how much he cares about Elizabeth. I thought the Hulk was going to cry when Elizabeth kicked him. As with most other movies made out of Marvel comics, Stan Lee has a cameo in the film, but fans of the old Hulk TV show will be happy to know that Lou Ferrigno has a cameo too (the audience in the theater we were in was really happy to see him). I should not gloss over how cool the chase squences are, or how intense the fight scene is between the Hulk and the Abomination. I don't think I blinked once during any of those parts. This movie is a lot of fun.
The mixed reviews that Speed Racer has been getting kept me away from it until today, and I am so glad that I finally went to see it. Speed Racer is a lot of fun, and a great feast for the eyes with the elaborate racing sequences. I think that this movie has been judged too harshly for being based on a kids' show, because when you just accept that aspect of it, it becomes a highly enjoyable show. The villian is an old-school kind of villain, like Snidely Whiplash, and stylisticly, the whole things feels like an old-fashioned Saturday morning cartoon, which I really liked. So anyone who wants to see Speed Racer, go for it, but remember what it is, and you will enjoy it more.
I enjoyed this installment of Chronicles of Narnia a whole lot more that the first film. There is a lot more action, as well as humor, and the story moves along smoothly. I was a little annoyed with the character Peter, but I cannot say why without using spoilers. The young man who plays Prince Caspian is very impressive, and I look forward to seeing him in the next Narnia movie. Overall, I would recommend this movie to friends and family.
Iron Man is a lot of fun, with a good story that moves along smoothly, and action scenes that deliver a rush. There is also plenty of humor that keeps the film fun in between action sequences. My Dad liked Iron Man too, so I say that this is a good film to take the action movie fan in you family to:)
