It was like a less well done version of Children of Men (tough guy escorts vulnerable female on perilous journey). There were also multiple cloudy issues with the plot -- loose ends about vigin births and the agenda of Charlotte Rampling's character. So, a bit of a mess screenplay-wise. The worn out weariness of Russia was much more effective as a backdrop than New York "Product Placement" City. That being said, it was still basically enjoyable and at times thought provoking -- but a missed opportunity in general. My understanding is that the director is very unhappy with how the studio interfered with production and the final product.
