This movie does a great job of not only standing on its own but also appeasing the fans who have watched this show since the beginning. I am not one to reveal spoilers in a review so I can't say much more than that. I only saw it in 2D but I can see where it would be worth checking out in 3D and I plan to at some point.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Cons lens flares
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I am used to seeing Star Trek The Next Generation on TV so having the chance to see it on the big screen was a chance I didn't want to pass up. Before the show even begins they show various screen shots of the new Restored episodes and show how much of a difference the restoration is compared to the original footage. Then the main show started with one behind the scenes special, then move on to the first episode, Q Who. Seeing the special effects redone during the fight scenes was great. That was followed by a piece of the Outtakes which were hilarious! Then they had the 25th anniversary reunion piece that shared both funny and serious reflections of the series. That was followed by the extended version of The Measure of a Man, which was well done and adds to the overall story that we've seen before. Then the evening was over with a sneak peak at Season 3 and maybe a clue as to what the next 2 episodes in the theater could be. Overall, worth the time and money to see. It is all done so we go out and get the new season on Blu-Ray but it still is a great opportunity to see the episodes done theatrically.
While being a Star Trek fan I was concerned that this movie would drastically change what I know of the series, but there was not as many changes as I feared. There was plenty of action, smooth story and lots of laughs. A very good beginning to what I hope to be another line of Star Trek movies. Can't wait for #2!
