With a star line-up of actors like this, what could go wrong? The story isn't PERFECT, but it's a lovely two hours. Wonderful, colorful and realistic images of India, too. Really enjoyed it. Only complaint is that trailers always give away all the punch lines.
Sort of ridiculous situations and fairly predictable (though my husband didn't get it.) Just as in men's action movies, it is absurd that she gets away with what she does, but think it's terrific to have a woman in a role where she is simply great at what she does and is never treated as a sex object (although very beautiful) except by her husband in a nice husbandly way. Fun time at the movies. Loved the shots of Washington Heights (156 and Riverside) in Manhattan that they portray as being Washington, DC. Hah!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Bizarre. Permeated by "Rite of Spring" (except for one snippet of "Symphony for Wind Instruments") as if "Rite" was all he'd ever written. No background for why he continues to play it over and over some ten years later when his compositional style had already changed dramatically. No real explanation for the attraction between Stravinsky and Chanel. Both performers far more attractive physically than their real counterparts. Is what we're seeing truth or fiction? Chanel aggressive and passive aggressive in turns -- think this is what she was really like. Stravinsky a puppet on the strings of his lust. Riot at the initial performance of "Rite" -- and the dance itself for those who haven't seen it -- both very entertaining. Impact of Chanel's predation on Katerina Stravinsky and the children very touching. But overall, sentimental with the requisite and somewhat "de trops" explicit sex.
