Derivative Disappointment

I'd been looking forward to this film more than almost any other this holiday season. What a letdown! Almost all the musical numbers felt as if they'd been done, better, in other movies. Daniel Day-Lewis was a collection of tics more than a full-blooded performance. As for the women, several of them were just glorified cameos; only Marion Cotillard truly stood out. She was poignant, lovely, and introspective.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
