Silly

Silly, disjointed and totally implausible, but better than I thought it would be. The trailers wisely left out the part where Jackie Chan is not only the neighbor, but the mother's boyfriend. Then there was the whole bit about the bad guy's clothes, the partner that wasn't, and the twist that everyone saw coming five minutes in to the movie. I'll give it points for having no bad language or rude humor, and even a few laughs; which make it a passable family movie. But let's hope there's no sequel.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Timely and Stunning

Some critics have said that the story is old and tired, but the theme of corporate greed and the nonchalant destruction of nature is both timely, and a necessary reminder of where we are and where we might be in the future. But aside from that, this is the most visually stunning movie I have ever seen. To say that the effects are breathtaking is an understatement. It also has enough action and adventure to keep 3 boys age 8 to 12 glued to their seats without complaint for nearly 3 hours. That's a feat in itself.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Kids love this movie

This is a great movie for kids. My son loved it. Kids don't care about deeper social meaning, they want to be entertained with cute characters, bright lively animation, and for the boys, some stuff blowing up. This movie had all of that, plus a heartwarming story about a man who lost his son, tried to recreate him and failed, but learned to love the thing he had created. It's a good message for any audience.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is a great movie for kids and adults alike. It was fun, fast paced, highly amusing, and the animation was great. The 3-D effects were nice, but really really necessary. We had a blast!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Best of the Star Trek Movies

I've seen all of the Star Trek movies, which range pretty much from the sublime to the ridiculous (not necessarily in that order). This one is truly sublime. The plot stretches the imagination a bit, but they took the time to try and make it all make sense. There's plenty of action and eye candy for the young and unitiated, plenty of references back to the original series for us die hard fans, and seeing Leonard Nimoy is always a pleasure. From the grown-ups to the 10 year old, we all loved it. We may even go see it again, this time in IMAX.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great Family Movie

Ok, so the plot may be predictable and the premise kind of corny, but this is a great movie for little girls, and even their adolescent brothers. This movie is good, clean fun, and some parts literally had me laughing out loud.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great family movie

Monsters vs Aliens 3-D is a great movie for families with young children, and even some teenagers. The animation is excellent, and while the 3-D effects don't exactly blow you away, they are sure to impress younger children and do make the experience a bit more interesting. The story has enough substance for parents and older children, the characters are charming, but not gross, and the movie moves along at a brisk pace with plenty of action. I highly recommend it.
