Excellent for oldies and newbies

Stays true to the original series (including Capt. Pike in a wheelchair at the end). Like action flicks but not a Trekkie? No problem

Nice scenery and pretty good plot (once you figured out what was going on!), but it was too long and certain scenes could have been cut or shortened to keep the pace up.

Worthy weekend fare

Easter movie weekend for us. This one is definitely worth it if you are into family relationship movies - not quite a chick flick, so man-friendly

my wife went, I didn't!!

I'm only putting this review in cause my wife is not the computer type. I didn't go and my wife says there were no men in the audience (not that there is anything wrong with that!). The movie was not like the books but was fun if you go to the early show for discounted tickets!

This reminded me of BIG FISH and NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM, but didn't reach that caliber. Definitely a movie for kids, and I would have given it a 3 star but I forgot to bring a kid!

only for the well-read Sci-Fi buffs

You will like this movie ONLY if: 1) you are at least a teenager, 2) love books, and 3) live for Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Fortunately, I happen to qualify or this would have been a long afternoon!
