If you like slasher movies, you will be fine with this one - though the ending is a surprise.... all I will say is i) Sigourney Weaver is getting old (how time flies!), and (ii) I now know why there is a movement to legalize pot :)
Watchable and fun when it's raining outside. Surprisingly though briefly quite violent. I enjoyed it. I think the actors made the movie, though - it would have flopped otherwise.
I thought it was great but then again, I had read the Carter series as a kid before the Tarzan series; qualifies me as an old guy who likes classic stuff. A bit slow in parts and nothing like Star Wars or Avatar but good enough. Too bad that budget was so large or we might be seeing a sequel.
Very good.. and almost as good as the book (which is rare). The interesting part to me was the central government role in things (The Capitol). Beware those who think a strong federal government controlling everything is a good thing - power to the individual, forever!
My wife says it stayed true to the book. Movie itself was excellent with casting done perfectly... my only regret? The audience was mostly over 60 years old. This era is not something to dwell on ("white guilt") but it is certainly something our young people should learn about and never repeat...
Ayn Rand's view of America's individualism squashed by Big Government and Big Unions attempt to redistribute wealth. Demonizing by "looters" and "moochers" of those that achieve. This is a must -see movie for those convinced that socialism is The Way!
Very good cinematography, and certainly worth it (especially early-bird $$), but rather depressing and (from what people tell me) not anywhere close to the book in quality. I didn't see much chemistry coming from Witherspoon to anyone, and she was dressed very strangely for the babe magnet she was supposed to be.
at this point in the series, you really have to have read the book(s) to get the most out of this movie. I still wish they would get rid of Ron (the red-headed kid), though! What a wimp !!
