Exquisitely written, filmed and acted. The story is gripping and, sadly, true. It's disturbing to see the struggles of gay people in America and how unfairly they've been treated. Gays aren't portrayed in a glowing aura, and aren't shown as martyrs. You just see human beings who deal with the worst kinds of bias but struggle for equality. Harvey Milk is not a typically charismatic leader - he's a man committed to a cause. Someone like you and me.
I wish they had not named the movie "Milk". If you don't know the history, you'd think it's about dairy farming or breast feeding. The name is a turn-off and doesn't create interest.
