It was great seeing the cast back in action---even Skinner showed up! I loved it but I am an avid X-File fan, so perhaps I'm unable to look at this film with true objectivity. But it held my interest, had a good story line and was unpredictable throughout. I particularly enjoyed seeing how Mulder and Scully entwined their lives as I felt there was no closure with the series.
The only thing I didn't like was that theatres are always colder than need be and watching all those scenes taking place in the snow was giving my hypothermia. However, I also know that most X-Files are filmed in Vancouver, so why I was surprised by the snow is beyond me. Just gives me a lot of respect for the actors working under those conditions! I hope they'll consider yet another movie, but I suspect David Duchovny is fed up with the whole thing by now.
I thought the movie was great! They couldn't have cast a better actor than Steve Carell to play Don Adams' role. Although sexy in her own right, I don't think Anne Hathaway can beat the sexy and sultry-voiced Barbara Feldon as Agent 99 on the TV series. Of course, that fact did not make the movie less enjoyable for me. She just missed it by 'that much'. Having grown up a Get Smart afficianado, the gags were true to the TV series. The movie was well written, well acted and totally cracked me up!
