I'm very disappointed that Disney would allow small children to be subjected to the type of violence this movie portrays. I understand that nature can be violent but what was the purpose of showing sea lions being mauled and eaten by sharks and killer whales in a movie that is being marketed as a family film? The scenes were disturbing to say the least and at least two mothers had to take crying & upset children out of the theater during these scenes. This film did not need that footage for this movie to be a success. My 8 year old niece was extremely distraught over what she saw in this movie and it left me apologizing to her parents for allowing her to see it. I would not recommend this movie to anyone under the age of 10 and certainly not for any child who is upset by seeing other animals mauled and eaten. In one scene you could actually see the terror in the sea lions eyes as it struggling for its life in the mouth of a killer whale. Please spare me the "well nature is cruel" bit because cruel or not it is not something a child should be subjected too.
