A great Summer film

I am not going to throw around superlatives like some people might. This is by no means the greatest movie ever made. It has it's flaws, it stutters at points, but when all is said and done, it is a great kick off to the summer movie season.
As a movie lover, I look forward each year to the kick off to the summer movies. After some of the horrible movies I have managed to sit through for a year, the summer movies, while not always the most thought provoking fare, generally satisfy on a different level. Iron Man is one of those movies.
You won't leave the theater with a deeper insight into the human condition, or with unresolved questions about the environmental impact of logging companies in east Asia. What you will come out with, is a satisfied feeling, after watching a lot of explosions, some satisfying violence, and an amazing performance by Robert Downey Jr.
The movie delivers exactly what it aims for, a comic book origin story. It does not go for anything else, unlike certain other Marvel movies (**cough** Ghost Rider **cough**) which were just awful, by any stretch of the imagination. Nor does it ham things up like some supposed "Fantastic" movies. Instead this movie works with an exceptional cast, with some amazing costuming and effects, and delivers an all-together fun movie.
Were there things that I would have liked to see done differently? Of course! But those things are just minutia. Except for the ending... I think the ending wasn't the greatest, but still was decent. And the bit after the credits, also quite fun.
In the end, this is definitely a movie I would recommend to my friends, family, co-workers, and random people I meet on the street.
