Visuals make up for so-so plot

Although the plot is formulaic and fairly predictable, that's not what this flick is all about. It's the amazing visuals and particularly the 3D experience. The 3D definitely adds to the sense of immersion in the world Cameron creates, while not being distracting or there simply for shock value. This movie succeeds in creating a new planet that you feel at home in, that you believe that you could step into if you just got up out of your seat. And c'mon, any sci-fi film with Sigourney Weaver has to be great, right?
Yes, I recommend this movie.
