I am 53 and went with my 60 year old friend, and it was fun!! There were many MANY clever lines and the story-line was amusing. The pixar-like movie was great. Great laughs.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great cast, loved John Cusack & Danny Glover; Oliver Platt was excellent. Plotline pretty skinny.
Great science exposure which is always a good thing. Tremendous effects. Global type of scope, also good. Looking forward to his production of The Fantastic Voyage! I personally thought the initial portrayal/depiction of John Cusack's character as "bumbling wanna-be dad with an amusing good heart," shamed regularly by the mother of his children, and Amanda Peet's character as "the natural and obvious better parent" to be banal and unnecessary and too consistent with the depiction of men (misandry) in the media.
