This is apparently a 4 hour movie that has been reduced to 2 1/2 hours (thankfully) but as a result the plot is pretty much imcomprehensible (that is if you want to follow along rather than just ooh and aah at the special effects!) Not a movie for the discerning viewer which I guess separates me from most of the other cheerleaders on this site! OK so Heath Ledger is very good in this but without him on screen you are left with a humorless, confusing apocalyptic epic.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
