Phantasm
I went into "Alice" with low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised- there are a few stupid/silly gags obviously aimed at kids (who this movie isn't really appropriate for, anyway), but they were brief and the rest of the film made up for it.
Wasikowska is the runaway star of the film, followed by Hathaway as an impressively different character for her, then Depp who while great as always didn't give us much we haven't seen from him before. My only disappointment is with Bonham Carter's Red Queen, who just never really seemed evil or threatening enough- you pity her more than you fear her.
That said, the film is fun, exciting, dark, and a wild ride- well worth the price of admission. Maybe even twice... =)
