I loved it - family hated it

Awesome special effects, great integration between "real" world and CGI and excellent score but not much new or exciting as far as storyline. Basically Cameron retold the Pocahontas legend with 10' blue people in the place of the American Indian. Also, the whole thing was about 60 minutes longer than it should have been, they could have tightened-up the story and left out A LOT of exposition but it seemed like they had more special effects and CGI stuff that they wanted to show so they kept going and going and going...
Yes, I recommend this movie.
