I really enjoyed the movie. Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan were both very good in it. Scenery was beautiful. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the title. The whole movie is about kung fu, not karate. Big difference. I love the fact they chose to use kung fu instead of karate this time, but they should have called it The Kung Fu Kid. The marketers could have gotten the word out that this a take from the Karate Kid series. It's almost an insult to kung fu. Especially since karate's origination is from kung fu.
I always wanted to see a film adaptation of G.I. Joe. It's just too bad it happened to be this film that got released. Visually, the appeal of G.I. Joe being somewhat rooted in reality is completely lost. Instead the costumes and visuals are yet again the tired usage of black spandex pioneered almost a decade ago in the X-Men films.
Instead of using the rich history of the characters created by the great writer Larry Hama, the screenwriters have opted to create a cheap poorly constructed story of characters that are intertwined like a cheap TV. Soap opera.
All in all it's a great film to watch for an in-flight movie when you're in the air with no where to go. But when on the ground with other options like getting an enema I'd pass.
Saw it on IMAX 3D. As everyone said...it's only 3D in the first 10 minutes of the film. The 3D was cool, but it should have been more. Thought at least they would have more 3D at the end, but no.
This movie is relatively comparable to the other Inidana Jones movies, Indy slightly lacks the energy he had in his younger days. The film is still entertaining to watch though. It's great how the film delves into the history of the Mayan calender in relation to the crystal skulls.
