With a subtext of Futureshock this story is human and exquisitely acted on all fronts. A superb job by the entire ensemble. The cinematography is first class. Directing spot on and the story is very very riveting. The inhumanity is heavy but critical to the story. There is no cowardice. The reality and the passion counterbalance beautifully. Can't wait to see what they do next. Hope success doesn't spoil them.
As in "Amelie", Audrey Tautou can emote more with just her eyes than any of her Hollywood counterparts. She utterly charms the audience and takes a character you want to hate and turns her into a vulnerable, lovable sweetheart. Its classic French film with excellent directing, perfect cinematography and a story that is wonderfully human throughout. The barbs at the expense of the soul less Riviera jet set crowd are spot on. Her leading man (Elmaleh) plays a shy heart struck everyman to an absolute tee. Its Peter Sellers "Being There" deadpan charming. Fun movie executed flawlessly.
