We saw the mid-night showing with our 7 yr old twins who loved it. If you read the book you will be shocked by the important bits cut from the story. I have read all the books and reread them before seeing the movie and was disappointed with cuts from the book and add in's for effect. If you take the movie on it's own it is a great movie worth seeing. The ending leaves something to be desired, someone in the theater with us boo'ed the ending.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
