New Moon offers up a good bit of story telling, with upgraded visuals over Twilight due to an increase budget, and the move to select a director that understands visual effects. The score for the movie however will pull you out of key scenes as they come across as cheesy soap opera music. The movie on the whole was done well, and not deserving of the brutal beatings it's getting from film critics that do not understand the source material, nor do they understand why this movie will make money.
I like Max Payne the video game, and because of that, I knew what to expect from the movie based on it. This is probably one of the best video game to movie movies. It stayed in essence very close to the source material. It gave several nods to different aspects of the video game such as use of slow motion to replicate the use of "bullet time" in the May Payne video game. They also did a great job of evolving the story, and leaving it open to a sequel. The way that they display the effects of using "Valkyr" was new and refreshing. It wasn't the greatest movie out there, but you could do far worse than Max Payne. The performances by the actors were done well all around.
The Dark Knight starts as it ends: Intensely. The performance of the cast as a whole was spectacular with one exception: Heath Ledger. Heath Ledger stole every scene he was in! His version of the Joker was sinister, scary, and believable. I had an eerie feeling watching this movie knowing that Mr. Ledger had passed. He left to us his best work. It is by far one of the best movies I have seen!
