You've heard the story before, same as "A Christmas Carol" and countless other stories we've all heard many times before. What's different is in the way it's told, or presented, in this case. Absolutely the best visuals of any movie, ever. If you skip this movie because you think you've seen it before, you will have missed a truely revolutionary telling.
It's not the story, it's the way it's seen that makes Avatar exceptional.
Heath Ledger gives one of the best performances ever. The movie itself is outstanding, but his performance alone is worth going to see. Definitely makes you leave the theater wanting more.
It's a Will Smith movie, so it has to be good. And it was. Plenty of action, good story, lots of potential. This movie is worth going to see. A very good action movie.
However. The directing was erratic. The story just didn't flow as good as it could have. Also, there is a great story in there, but it never seems to get told leaving most of the emphasis on the action scenes. I left the theater wanting more of the story of who Hancock was, where he came from, and all that. More character development. It just wasn't there. Maybe in a sequel?
