I really enjoyed everyone's performance in this -I really wasn't expecting the story twists -it was a nice surprise. The FX aren't groundbreaking but appropriate for this type of "dramady". Jason Bateman held his own and Charlize was a nice surprise, she brought a lot of depth to what could have been a very "flat" character. Will Smith pulled out his usual cast of internal characters and gave the performance I expected -and that was great. It was a lot of fun, much better than a lot of trash that's been out this summer *coughs while saying "Wanted" *
Yeah, well let's see. Don't go see this movie unless you enjoy special effects for the sake of themselves, gratuitous use of horribly cheap bullet-time effects and just really cheap and corny physics defying special effects that look like an FX house's "B" team did on a coke-binge over the weekend. This movie is entertaining if your drunk, really drunk, or high or under the influence of pretty much any hallucinogen. It is at times pretty darn funny however -which saved it for me after I completely gave up on the rest of it. I have no idea at all why Jolie signed up for this, she's way too classy for this crap, she also needs to eat a sandwich or 5. I love skinny chicks, but come on, what happened to my Tomb Raider style hottie, it's more like a skinnier Gia or something -gross. Anyways, that's about it. I was drunk when I saw this movie, had I not been I would have been way less entertained. Don't go to the theater, rent it when it comes out on DVD in two weeks, grab you favorite booze and some friends, get hammered and have a laugh. There have been worse movies made, but this isn't ranking that well among any of them.
I had been looking forward to this movie since I heard about it last year. It was totally awesome on every level. Jon Favreau did a brilliant job with this adaptation. Robert Downey Jr. was flawless in this role, and the perfect person for it. It's a must see, and I will definitely go back and see it again. I can't wait until the sequel. This movie is THE definition of perfection in American cinema. I loved it, and you will too.
