I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT MICKEY ROURKE'S PERFORMANCE THROUGHOUT THIS MOVIE, AND MARISA TOMEI, WHILE NOT EQUAL, GAVE A STRONG PERFORMANCE AS WELL. THE MOVIE AS A WHOLE WAS GENERALLY DEPRESSING, BUT YOU CAN'T REALLY MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT A WASHED UP EX-PRO WRESTLER AND IT BE A LOVELY FEEL GOOD. SO WITH THAT SAID, I INDEED GIVE IT TWO THUMBS UP BECAUSE OF ITS DEPRESSING UNDERTONES. I MEAN, HOW MANY EX PRO-WRESLTER TRIUMPHS HAVE YOU REALLY HEARD OF? I LOVED THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MICKEY AND MARISA AS WELL AS THE RELATIONSHIP HE HAD WITH THE RING. JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT HE WAS DONE AND IN A MORE "NORMAL" WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HE GETS SUCKED BACK IN. THIS MOVIE IS TOUCHING AND HEARTBREAKING ALL IN ONE, AND THE 80'S MUSIC WAS GOOD TOO!
If you haven't heard the phenomenal reviews yet, you are living under a rock. As you guessed, this movie is outstanding. This movie is not only for the action/adventure seeking, comic book-turned-movie fans, but all fans of film will enjoy. From start to finish this movie is action packed, thrill-seeking, and full of uninterrupted bliss. Yes some believe that this film is too "dark", but we are not only dealing with the "dark knight" here but Gotham City in itself is a "dark" place. I am by no means a comic book fan, never read them. I am a movie fanatic though, and while I know nothing about the Batman comic books, I know quite a bit about movies...and this is one of the best. Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker alone is worth the money to go see this film! It was sheer genius. Aaron Eckhart also did a fantastic job as Harvey Dent. And Christian Bale once again has proven he IS Batman. The movie was put together so well, Oscars all around in my opinion. The only complaint I have is that I would like to have seen more of "The Joker", his background and what not. To sum it all up...GO SEE THIS MOVIE! It will not disappoint.
