Big Disappointment!

I am a huge fan of Vin Diesel and was sorely disappointed in his choice of movie. The movie has no beginning nor end and very little inbetween. Vin's acting held the movie together but I fear it was not enough to keep it from sinking. Michelle Yeoh is also one of my favorite actors and I wondered why she chose to do this movie, it was beneath her. She still did a fine job with what she had. Many of the lines were borrowed from other movies and it made the movie very predictable. If you like a lot of action, explosions, visual and special effects this movie will hold your attention. Otherwise, I would seek another movie to spend your hard earned money on.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I heard everyone got motion sick but all I got was a small headache. I get motion sick over the smallest thing so it surprised me. The story just didn't own up. It was disconnected and pointless. The actors did an okay job but you don't always feel the terror they are trying to portray. Forget about any explanations as to what is happening. There are some interesting parts in the movie, including the heaad of the Statue of Liberty flying through the air. It is still too close to 9/11 to have explotions in NYC. They did use that fear as part of the movie. The blu ray movie really shows a lot of the creaature and the smaller ones. I would recommend to rent the DVD for kicks.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

One very scary movie. I was jumping in my seat several times. The movie started slow but picked up about 15 mintues into the movie. I really like how it ended. A really imaginative ending and movie. Scares around every corner. Don't go in expecting a conclusive explanation or story plot. You have to go in just for the fun and scares of what is going on. There is a storyline that is easy to follow and keeps you glued to the screen. If you like gore this movie has it. If you like to get your heart racing, this movie has it. A great movie to go with that special someone to hold onto. I recommend a late night showing for the full scary effect. Watch out for your reflection.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Didn' Like: The Yeti didn't look real, CGI substandard. The camera work for the fight sequences were awful. You couldn't see anything that was going on most of the time. I was disappointed in the acting by Brendan and his son. Thier relationship seemed forced not natural. Liked: The visual effects of the emperor changing to terra cotta. There was plenty of action. The fight scenes between Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh were outstanding. Michelle is so graceful and they used that in the film to the upmost. I was entertained by the movie and did not go in expecting a lot, just fun, which I had. I would see the movie again.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I had huge hopes for this movie. I am an avid fan of the X-files. The movie was so disconnected. There were too many storylines that were left unanswered. I lost count on how many continuity errors were in this movie. They never explain the purpose of the psychic priest and what they found. What it meant, I have no idea. It didn't make any sense. I always wanted to see Scully and Mulder get together but the relationship was dull and boring and not what I wanted. I am glad I had a free ticket to see this movie. It is not worth the money. I do want to say that the show did not only have to do with aliens. It also dealt with myths, legends, supernatural events and the paranormal.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

First, I am upset my 1st review was lost. I went to the movie to make sure it would be suitable for my 5 year old niece and 8 year old nephew. I was shocked at how much violence was in this movie! Children will be screaming and terrified at the bombs going off and the attacks on the water horse! I was upset and I'm an adult! The storyline doesn't matter when the movie is made out in the trailers as a happy go fun family movie. This is totally not true. The water horse was the best actor of the entire movie. Do not rent this movie to watch with any children.

The visual effects in 3D really help this movie. I think the 2D version (no pun intended) would be flat and boring. Brendan Fraser really is the one that moves this movie along. There are many continuity errors and storylines that are left flat, hence the 4 stars and not 5. There are some strong points on family life between Fraser (the uncle) and his nephew (Josh) and the sister/mom. The actress playing the guide was flat and boring. The Center of the Earth was created with a lot of imagintion. Just go and have fun with the 3D visuals and fun with the two main characters of the uncle and nephew. It is a fun movie. I think most kids over 11 will also enjoy it. I would recommend this movie to be seen on the big screen in full digital 3D.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

AnnaSophia is an excellent actress and does the part justice. This movie really shows the depth of families in trouble. Some will say it is preachy, but I disagree. There are too many families out there with parents who are on drugs, get into trouble with the law and expect family to bail them out with no regard for thier feelings. This movie builds up around that theme. The story stands up and makes the actors shine. Charlize also did a brillant job as the junkie mom who takes advantage of her brother played by Stahl. Anna's young life is affected and torn apart. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I truly recommend watching this movie by DVD.

Joshua did a pretty okay job. His character could have been played a little higher. It was a little dry in some areas. If you like the movies The Grudge or The Ring you will enjoy this movie. One thing I learned from this movie is that spirits have mass and weight??? I found this very odd. It is pretty scary for kids under 16. The DVD has more to it then the theater addition. There is a story in there and in sort of comes together towards the end of the movie. But, it is predicable in many spots and not all that scary. There were still a few places I jumped because it was scary. Hard core horror/thriller watchers may not get what they expect. For others, I think this will be a good sit down with a good looking fun date and have some fun.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

My 5 year old niece and 8 year old nephew were so bored with this movie they were just staring blankly throughout the entire movie. There was not one laugh from them nor the audience. The majority of the humor goes right over the heads of most kids under the age of 16. The story was annoying and had no sense to it. They just had these chimps doing things with no continuity to the story. It was a sad commentary to the space program when they used to use chimps in the first space program. A true insult to them. I kept nodding my head falling asleep. Families, save your money and get the DVD when it comes out. It would be a huge waste of your money to take the entire family to see this movie in the theater.
