Great cinematography on the battle scenes and a good mix of introspection, retrospective, and action throughout the movie.

Simply put the movie was highly entertaining as well as being visually beautiful. Tim Burton was able to blend Lewis Carrol's quirky strangeness with straightforward story telling and keep it all interesting and moving forward.
See this movie.
