We enjoyed this movie for its pure entertainment value. As expected, it was a campy, melodramatic, action-packed, predictable fun ride. The beautiful scenery in China, the actors, the special effects, and the animations are what make this film good. It is not a profound, thought provoking film nor a scary, horror flick, but stands on its own as a good-humored summer adventure movie that held our interest and we can certainly recommend to others.
This movie is about the reunion of Scully & Mulder and their adventures tracking the whereabouts of a missing FBI agent. They depend on assistance from a convicted pedophile priest who is having psychic visions that he attributes to G-d. Scully is reluctant to go along with these visions, but does her own soul searching as she races to find a treatment for a terminally ill boy at the Catholic Hospital where she works now after leaving the FBI. The film gives all X-philes a little taste of nostalgia and there are several show specific references that will be lost on a general viewer. The plot seemed to be Chris Carter's take on the mythology of Dr. Frankenstein. Overall the movie was good, not great. It kept our interest, but it seemed to lack the original shows' suspenseful elements.
...is aptly titled. This film is brilliant! A perfect cast with a tight, thoughtful plot, intense acting and action, and the IMAX scope make this the hit of MY summer! Rave on...
The level of animation is amazing in this movie and though the plot is relatively simple, there were enough unique sequences and laughs to keep our interest. We loved the characters and delight in the references to action figures, ha ha! What an overall feeling of triumph and fun.
