As a sequel to the remake of Clash Of The Titans (which paled in comparison story-wise to the Harry Hamlin version), Wrath of the Titans still misses on mythological accuracy. For those that don't know, Perseus, the legendary founder of Mycenae and of the Perseid dynasty of Danaans there, was the first of the heroes of Greek mythology whose exploits in defeating various archaic monsters provided the founding myths of the Twelve Olympians. Perseus was the Greek hero who killed the Gorgon Medusa, and claimed Andromeda, having rescued her from a sea monster sent by Poseidon in retribution for Queen Cassiopeia declaring herself more beautiful than the Nereids. None of this was respected in either Clash or Wrath.
Special effects aside (which are spectacular), the story fails in this follow-up to its predecessor. I would have enjoyed seeing more of the Gods involvement and response to the situations presented in Wrath - instead of Ares and Zeus and Hades 'battling it out'. as they each 'deal with' a manipulative imprisoned Kronos.
Just having Zeus, Poseidon, and Ares meeting up with Hades to 'discuss' the Fall of Tartarus with no representation of the other Gods left me with abandonment issues! What about Hera? Apollo? Hermes? And, the like ... not even to see them initially turning to dust as we mortals 'forgot about them' to elicit the 'remaining' Gods into an 'unholy' alliance to keep their failing godly world from collapsing and thus bringing about Armageddon. Doing so would have added needed character back-story and would have flushed out a plot line that has too many "what about's".
Sadly, Wrath relies too much on F/X and battle scenes and not on the characters and accuracy to develop and move this Wrath of Myth along.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Finally a remake movie that not only honors the original franchise, but does it one better in it's updating!
I thoroughly believed that the Rise of the Planet of the Apes storyline could actually happen! The F/X are excellent as is the acting!
Clues to sequels were subtlety placed in this film (making me eager for them!) as well as honoring the original franchise themes and some names (Icarus).
Thumbs (& big toes) up for this prequel to the Apes Saga! If the creators of this installment don't veer in the sequels, the resurrection of APES will be as huge as a success as the original!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

By far the weakest installment in this HASRO franchise. Enough with the romances! Why can't we just have the action performances between humans and machine vs. a nemesis; why always a romance woven in? Jeez! Have the writers follow the animated series that this is based on for plot ideas if they can't write one without a boy-girlfriend storyline. The prologue (albeit great in F/X) was waaay too drawn out. I almost missed the opening title it took so long to get the point across that Apollo 11 was really to investigate what had crashed on the 'far side' of the Moon in the 1960s. I will admit that once the action started, and the plot unfolded (although there were some continuity errors with the 2 prior installments), the film kept my attention. I would have liked to see more of the parents interaction (they could do a movie unto themselves) and sans the new girlfriend, more explanation of the 'new' Autobots and Decepticons. And, if this is a 3D movie, then the bulk of the film needs to have 3D F/X that jump off the screen -- for awhile there I forgot I had the glasses on because of the 2D appearance of the film. Here's hoping if there's another installment, the producer will stay in sync with continuity and edit out the romance in the script. This is a matinee showing for sure!
With a mixture of moral and ethical subplots and great special effects, AVATAR formulates into an overall storyline that not only thrills, but educates the moviegoer! A must see for everyone ... especially those that love history of native peoples and the settlement of 'modern invaders'. I so look forward to the trilogy that will come from this franchise.
This franchise just keeps getting better and better! This recent installment in the "Marvel" superhero/mutant serials not only makes your heart race with thrills, but also sigh with 'ah-ah' moments as one sees the dimensions in the Wolverine character revealed. All the pieces that have been missing in prior movies fit nicely into place ...leaving you wanting to know more about all the X-Men characters in this 'family' from Xavier's! Thumbs up for this feature, it's a must for all action-adventure seekers!
