First, I think the accent of Maria Bello as Mrs. O'Connell was a little overdone. She could have kept a normal accent as did Brendan Frasier and it wouldn't have seemed so artificial. Second the set reminded me of a movie I saw not too long ago with again Jet Li and Jackie Chan - The Forbidden City (I think). Some of the scenery had been changed but the set up was the same. It must have been a cost cutting measure for the same type of genre. There were also some slow parts during some of the conversation, but on the up side, the movie did have some good CGI effects and martial arts action, which you always expect with Jet Li in a movie along with Michelle Yeo. The film was entertaining, but it was no match for the box office hit and money maker of The Dark Knight. I suggest that if there is ever a "Mummy 3 in Peru" as was eluded to at the end of the movie, the screenwriters come up with a much better plot. In my opinion, the first "Mummy" was the best and most memorable.
Edward Norton did a surprisingly good job of this makeover movie. He is such a lean built actor, I wasn't sure how he would pull it off, but he did. Of course, there is a lot of CGI in the movie, which is expected, but I think the story line was more clear in this presentation than it had been in the past. It's a good family night out flick and as long as you don't expect too much realism, you'll enjoy the fun of it. Can't wait to see how the "Ironman" is going to fit into the sequel.
IRON MAN was great family entertainment. The entire theatre was filled from top to bottom, which is the first indication that the movie is going to be good and that it got good reviews. From start to finish, this movie was exciting, innovative, suspenseful and intriguing as the plot unfolded. The cast were all perfectly suited for their roles and there wasn't a minute that went by without each of us sitting on the edge of our seats wanting more. If all the summer blockbusters are this good, we're in for a great season. I can't wait to see an IRON MAN sequel. Thank the producers and directors finally for a great film to watch. I'm so glad to see Robert Downey, Jr. got his act together. He played his part extremely well, and as he says in the closing, he is IRON MAN.
I took my Granddaughter to see this movie and walked out. The language, gestures, innuendoes and poor acting on the part of Owen Wilson were terrible. I've seen him in better movies, but this one in my opinion looked like a payback for a contract agreement by Mr. WIlson. He will really need to redeem himself after this. I thought the PG-13 rating was wrong. It should have been rated R and in the future I will be more cautious when I see PG-13 on a film review.
