The film version of Nine scores some base hits and a number of misses. The 'hits' Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz and Judi Dench and some very poignant non-musical scenes. Best musical numbers belong to Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman--they look and feel genuine and they are well sung and photographed. Also Judy Dench's Follies number. Fergie is excellent but one dimensional. The misses: The sensuality dynamics were over-done and over-choreographed--especially true for Penelope Cruz' and Kate Hudson's respective #'s. I longed for more subtlety; some choreography was simply offensive.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
