Keep 'em comin'! This was as good as the first. The chemistry between RDJ and JL is a joy to watch. The stop action/slow mo/super fast sequencing of action scenes makes them even more thrilling. Great balance of humor and drama. Can't wait for the third!!
I'd been told this wasn't worth seeing but I figured it couldn't be all bad with Craig, Ford and Wilde in it. True, this required no stretch of any of their acting abilities .... minimalist dialogue, long stretches of silence and "looks" in lieu of words. But still it was a decent story, good ensemble acting, great special effects and just the right length, time wise. A nice collaboration between Dreamworks and Imagine .. two studios from which I always expect to be entertained if not wow'd. This was entertaining.
After the sneak peak given at the Tony's I knew the rest of this show would not disappoint ... and it did not. Every single cast member was outstanding. I already knew NPH had singing chops after his appearance on Glee and his other award hosting gigs .. but each cast member stood their own. And since it was recorded in front of a live audience, it added to the feeling that you were actually there too. With live theatre ticket prices making Broadway performances such as this inaccessible I sincerely hope we can look forward to many other Broadway productions brought to the big screen in this way.
A good romp .. as expected .. but the jokes are getting a bet worn out from re-use. I think 3D is a waste of the extra money you have to pay .. I kept slipping my glasses off and the vast majority of the movie was crystal clear without the glasses. Loved JD .. what's not to love! but Barbosa's character was a bit annoying. Penelope was a good addition but I think underutilized. Ian is always such a delicious bad guy! Didn't realize til opening credits that Rob Marshall directed ... but the choreographed fight scenes definietly had his stamp on them. So when is #5 coming out .. since there was an obvious set up. Hope they bring back Keira!!!
Normally I would not bother with a movie that included this cast. The draw for me was the director, Ron Howard, whose work I normally find outstanding. But this was disappointing all around. It wasn't a good comedy; it wasn't a good drama. Winona needs to sue her plastic surgeon .. it hardly looks like her any more. Jennifer Connelly and Clint Howard were the only decent performances IMHO. Very very disappointing.
Visually stunning; not as dark as I expected from Burton. Depp was his usual delightful self and Alice was a strong heroine. Helena B-C was wonderful though the daintiness of the White Queen was rather off-putting. All in all not a great movie .. but fund to experience in 3D.
I was so looking forward to this given how blown away I was by Rob Marshall's handling of Chicago. But Nine just doesn't have a good enough story to tie all the big production numbers together. Which, were absolutely fantastic! Kate, Marion, Fergie and Penelope did phenomenal jobs and the numbers were staged and photographed in an exciting way. Too bad the rest of the movie couldn't maintain the same standards. The dance numbers are worth seeing .. just don't expect much in between.
Robert Downey Jr at his best and Jude Law ... perhaps one of his best too. Great fun from start to finish and I love that they hint at a sequel at the end. RDJr could be sitting pretty on top of two franchises: Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes). Fine with me .. can't get enough of him. He's brilliant in everything he does!
A perfect fairy tale ending. I heard there are rumors afoot already about another movie but as much as I adore S&TC ... I think this movie ended on the perfect note. The fashion was of course spectacular, and the chemistry among the four femal leads was wonderful .. hard to tell their had been rifts prior to filming. Let's end it here and leave it to our own imaginations to determine what happens to these women next in their lives. Brava ladies!
No sequel will ever be as thrilling as the first Indy Movie. And the chemistry between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery was a magical combination that is rare which made for a superb movie. But I thought Cyrstal Skull was thoroughly enoyable and a very satisfying conclusion to this beloved franchise. I followed the Young Indiana Jones Cronicles faithfully and should they choose to expand this franchise to the next generation using LaBeouf, I would certainly give it a try.
