I loved this movie, and I am, while a huge sci-fi fan, a discriminating one, I think...
The casting was extremely well thought out, the actors brought very interesting nuances to the characters, paying homage to the original performances but adding their own input to make them come alive. The look of the is a great balance of the retro tech look of the original series, and a hot new high tech look.
As for the story line, sheer brilliance, because it opens up a whole new world of possibilites for the future without violating the history of Star Trek to date. Leonard Nimoy's role is critical and well acted, not just a thrown in cameo. A higher recommendation I cannot give.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
