The movie was good, not great. While Butler did a great job as usual; Foxx, in my opinion, was not a good choice for his roll. I found him not believable, at all. Again a poor choice. There were huge leaps in bending reality in order to keep the story going, I do try to keep in mind it is not reality. It's not always easy but I try. The movie is graphic, moreso then I was expecting. I don't understand why they can't leave anything to the imagination anymore. I just figure too few of us have one left. The ending was weak, I feel they could have done a better job. Go see it, though.
If you intend on seeing this movie it is not completely a comedy as it is portrayed in the trailers. Atleast that is not how I saw it. The film is dark and not suitable for children. Then again how many are these days? There are many parts in the movie that lost me for the sole fact that I kept asking why are these actors playing such weak-minded characters. They never made me feel sorry but I wanted to slap some sense into them. I am not into dark comedy so this movie was never a good choice for me to go see. If you feel the same stay away, if not go for it.
The producers of this movie may have wanted to keep their knowledge a secret or told it just a little differently. The movie was not bad but I didn't think it was all that great either. Cage seems to be playing the same old, same old character over and over and over. It's getting a little tired. I will admit it drew me in and the CG was awsome. There were many scenes in the movie I was disappointed in though. I had a few "Oh God" moments.....you know the times when you are thinking, "Oh God, what were they thinking when they shot this?" The overall ending is a scary thought for reality even though they gave it the one they did. You'll just have to go see it to decide.
Most kids today do not know the movie monsters we grew up with but Dream Works did a great job bringing them to the screen. The movie was fun, witty, and didn't leave us feeling disappointed. I do not look too deep into a films underlying message normally I just want to be swept away for a few hours and forget about life and this one did it. Take the entire family to see this film. You won't reget it!
I will admit we are not Watchmen fans, not then and not now. That may be why we could not get into the film. Three of us went, the theater was empty, and three of us left saying, "What the......?" There was way too much going on in this movie; they were trying to convey an overload of info. The movie could have easily lost 46 minutes of time and been fine. Too much violence and unnecessary, graphic, gore. Although there was alot of cool stuff throughout. You really have to seee it to decide for yourself but I would recommend this as a DVD or PayPerView Movie.
If you have seen the first movie you can't forget the hamburger bit. This movie was by far better than the first, though. We had more laughs and felt the story was better. Give it a try!
Short and sweet review......Outside of a couple of hoakey parts that made me say, "Uh!" This movie was great! The film had some intense scenes that make you sit on the edge of your seat and root for Liam Neeson's character. Definitely a must see!
Everyone knows someone like Harvey, atleast I do. That's where my first connection started then Emma Thompson's character was the second. The film is enjoyable and it has it's moments. Good for a Sunday afternoon.
