The Jackal meets Ground Hog Day

I was just hoping to see a mature thriller, something along the lines of a Tom Clancy or a Sidney Lumet type. With such a cast, how could you go wrong? Well, where do I start? Its not that bad, and actually, the last 30 mins or so became quite engrossing. One of the more fun car chases in a while. Who knew those little European Chevy Aveos could haul butt like that? But the characters never develop. Except for Hurt as the Prez, no one really had anything deep to say or hold your attention. But the whole rewinding of events to reselect the other Vantage Point became humorous. So I ask: If a political thriller about terrorist assassinating the President of the United States makes you laugh, is it entertainment? The answer is yes. It just goes to show that the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry because of some little kid in the middle of the road. Just a tip to any other movies that will follow this pattern, and I'm sure they will, next time, just pick the core point where all the characters intersect, and just do hard starts from there, instead of the goofy rewind montage. Believe or not, we are intelligent people, and we'll understand whats happening. No need for the baby talk. But an enjoyable film at its core
Yes, I recommend this movie.

After reading some of the reviews here, I noticed one thing: People either hated it of loved it. That worries me because the reviews were so irrational and provided no depth. This movie turns out to provide a quite insightful look at true horror and yet remains a standard monster movie- horror film. The movie watches like Godzilla meets 9/11. On the reality tip: This was quite interesting to see the people of New York deal with this "attack". The same effects used were identical to news footage of 9/11. And the overall effect is quite amazing. You immediately identify with the confusion the characters feel. And then the dosage of monster sighting gets turned up ever so slightly in a most titillating manner. The overall effect is great. The reason I give it a 4, is that there are still some lame movie thought processing going here. Several reviewers note to stay to the end of the credit. Warning: There is nothing but a 5 second audio clip that equates to "We're still alive", but really, this is not worth sticking around for, and adds a sick twist.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
