It's always great to see Cap'n Jack outsmart the establishment and the seedy underground, however, On Stranger Tides seems to have been made by taking some of the scenes from the first three films and splicing them into it.
***Spoilers****
The sword fight between Angelica and Jack is almost identical to the one between Will and Jack in the first film.
Jack's escapes were fun to watch, but a bit contrived.
We all knew Angelica would live instead of Blackbeard, so this was a no brainer.
Was the film entertaining? Yes. Did it meet expectations? No; it was predictable...including the Easter Egg at the end of the credits.
Sets/CGI were very pretty and the movie was fast -paced. This was basically a "back story" movie. The acting and accents were good, but not great. It was strange to see Natalie Portman, now an academy award winner, playing a ditzy scientist. Decent action - there wasn't enough of it, though. Easter Egg at the end!
Great animation, some really great surprises (only adults will understand), good story line. My six year old got lost a couple of times, but picked up the story line after a few moments. Definitely not for younger kids.
