Adjustment Bureau was marketed as an "Inception"-like thriller. Not! It was a romance story. There were some interesting concepts introduced and the chemistry between Emily Blunt and Matt Damon seemed sincere. However, it was not even close to being as complicated or compelling as Inception. To sum it up, the Adjustment Bureau was entertaining, but I left the theater feeling slightly unsatisfied.
Seth Rogan, bless his heart, just isn't funny. I was reluctant to go and waited to see what the first weekend results were before jumping into the pond. When I saw that the Green Hornet did well, I thought I should give it a try. Boy was I right with my first inclination. The 3D technology was necessary... the story was weak... only the sidekick was worth watching.
I didn't get it. Mind you, I am not a fan of the western genre of films. I found the story banal, uninspiring, and stilted. Hailee Steinfeld and Matt Dillon were a standouts, but Jeff Bridges and Josh Brolin just seemed to be playing the good ole boys that they've become. I know the reviews have been stellar and that's why I conceded and saw this movie, but it was not my favorite.
Try as it might - The Tourist could not capture the magic and chemistry of Brangelina's pairing. Johnny and Angelina are arguably the most bankable stars in Hollywood and that's why I signed up. Still, the movie fell short. Venice was stunning, Johnny was adept, and Angelina was "ravenous (spoiler alert)." That's alll I can say. It wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't great.
Denzel and Pine were non stop thrill ride. The movie was just the right length and the cast well assembled. Unstoppable had the right combination of so many critcal elements to make this a box office hit.
Everything about this film was raw and moving. With its who's who cast of African American actresses and intricately layered story, I just couldn't take my eyes of the screen. There's something that everyone can connect with in this film and these ladies' pain. Bravo, Tyler Perry. Bravo.
After having a near death experience (NDE), there wasn't any way that I was going to miss this movie. Perhaps Eastwood took on too much as he tried to make the subject of the afterlife marketable and engaging, and I'll give him some credit for his solid effort. Yet after seeing movies like Million Dollar Baby, Eastwood has definitely set a very high bar. The ensemble of interwoven stories and parallel realities were interesting but not compelling. Hereafter was satisfying but it could have been so much more.
For me to say that about a movie is pretty incredible. I totally connected to this film because Fecebook and the whole machiavellian ethics of Mark Zuckerman really overwhelmed me. I, by no means, blame him for his assertiveness or success, but the way he's portrayed as ruthlessness, socially inept, nerd stilled so many divergent feelings. The cast was superb as was the screenplay and direction. Facebook is now a global medium to be reckoned with like the telephone, television, and pc. So many of us are connecting socially through it and it amazes me that a social outcast had the genius to introduce this innovation.
Clearly Devil was released to coincide with the days of repentance according to the Jewish and Muslim faith. I got the message and considering how simply the whole story was staged, I'd have to say that this was a decent movie. The dialogue seemed a little strained and forced. However, the actors were believable. The only reason I would not rate this movie higher is that it lacked suspense.
I have to say it - Ben came through. He assembled and directed a stellar cast. The story was riveting and believable. Town was definitely one of the best movies that I've seen in the last few months.
