Other than going to see Robert Pattinson in a movie where he doesn't play a vampire I do not recommend this movie. Therefore I have to disagree with the reviews written so far since it was completely over dramatic. Thankfully there was Tyler's roomate to lighten the story up once in awhile. I also find it offensive to capitalize on a certain tragedy. Go into this movie ready for an emotional brow beating.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

A Fun Summer Flick

I've grown to respect Will Smith as a serious actor who never fails to deliver and I still stand by this. It wasn't his acting that made me give this movie only three stars but the story line itself. I even believe if someone else had played the part of Hancock, this movie might have even been really bad. The story itself left me wanting and what I wanted was a little more fun and a much more in depth explanation behind the origin of the characters. It also felt a little bit like a Highlander spin off admittedly with some differences. I still recommend this movie b/c it is a good summer flick. This really could have been a better movie but it's still worth seeing on the big screen due to the special effects. Be aware that this movie deserves the PG13 rating due to language and violence.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I found this movie to be one where I could actually relax. This is because I didn't have to worry about inappropriate references or violent graphics or rude humor, etc... In an age when our children are so used to watching movies that are so busy there is hardly any time to think or guess what comes next in the story, this film was a refreshing change. It gives the audience a chance to guess and try to predict what comes next. It is a kid friendly, fun movie that gives children and adults alike a glimpse into the 1930's before tv, before big shopping malls and computers. This is a well acted film though hard to find at least in our area. I hope it starts to show in more theatres soon.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is a great movie. My kids, ages 9, 7 and 4 all enjoyed this film. Jack Black does a great job as do the other stars with the voice overs. We had fun watching Kung Fu Panda and we were never bored. Be ready, however, to see some kung fu moves as well as some meditative positions replayed through your children .
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Yes, it is true that the political message is more than obvious. If we do not stop wasting our resources we are going to "trash" the earth. Also, we need to use our legs more than our cars...all true. These are not bad messages for young children to see. Of course, it is a cartoon and not completely realistic. But the message is true, we need to stop and look at the world around us. We need to walk more and get away from tv's, cell phones and computers more often.
But lets skip all the environmental jargon and go straight to the enjoyment of the film. I have a 4, 7 and 9 year old and all of them enjoyed the movie and in fact want to see it again. My 4 yr. old was afraid of Wall-e at first but now thinks he is funny. I could sit this one through and not look at my watch every few minutes unlike my experience with Happy Feet. For me Happy Feet was a huge disappointment although it had a similar political/environmental message. I thought that movie was just weird.
I did not go into Wall-e expecting spectacular things, in fact, I thought it was bound to be boring. I'm happy to say It wasn't. The animation is very good but ihe kids still know it isn't "real".
My advice is to go but go with an open mind. It is after all, a kids movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I am not an easy person to make laugh but this movie kept me in stitiches. It really is worth going to see. The warnings about nudity are well founded as there are two instances of full frontal male nudity which didn't bother me but bothered some of the guys I know. Men just are not used to seeing other men naked on screen, just women. There is lots of adult humor so this isn't really isn't for kids. I wouldn't want my 14 year old niece to see this.
Just go with an open mind and a laid back attitude and you won't be disappointed.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A little dissappointing

Overall, the movie is entertaining on the surface level especially for the younger crowd. However, if your child or you have read the books and remember the details to any large or even smallest extent ,the movie then becomes very frustrating. This is so because many of the important parts from the books are cut out or even and unwisely completely changed. This was done, I suppose, to be able to fit all five books into one movie as well as to lower the maturity level to appeal to a broader spectrum audience. For instance, my 9 year old was extremely upset while my seven year old loved the movie. As in most movies taken from books deviations are to be expected but those practiced here are truly extreme. I believe that this movie would be much more enjoyable if you have not read the series and I also recommend that if you haven't read them do not until after you've seen the movie. This movie is a poor attempt to give the audience the general concept of the books in a very unsatisfying whirlwind. If I were the authors I would be quite upset. There is no doubt this movie had the potential to be great but sadly it is not.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
