My six year old was a little frightened, although we had slowly read the whole book with her and helped her to understand the story before going into the movie. My eight year old (also read the story with us) did great and didn't get frightened at all. It made me flinch in certain moments. Brutal story, added violence that was not in the book, keep that in mind. Acting was great (especially the animal voices like Eddie Izzard). Gripping dialogue with hard lessons of war, much like those our country has had to experience first-hand. Faith component was very strong and eloquently put forth for all to learn. Overall, terrific but leave the little ones at home.
Okay, little more on the drugs and needless ronch than it was funny but it was still funny. We went on the trailer and though it still had some to offer outside of the trailer, it also had a lot of needless drugs and ronchiness that wasn't too funny. The George W. was really funny and we did laugh! Just be warned...the younger audience seemed to be a little more into it.
Incredible movie, sure to spark emotional connection in both men and women. Eric Bana, Natalie Portman, and Scarlet Johansen are terrific in this movie. Perfectly casted and one the better movies. For drama, it is up there with Beowulf, 300, and various other greats. Highly recommend this movie. We loved it.
