As much fun as the first Tron!

From the outset, I have to admit this is the first 3D flick I've ever seen and only the second in IMAX. Perhaps my lack of experience with the formats colored my enjoyment of Tron Legacy, but since it's not old hat to me, I felt like a kid!
When I first saw Tron long ago, I was enthralled by it. I watched it recently and it still holds up. Its story line was weaker than Legacy's but I felt as though I were visiting with old friends here. And, the 3D effects only enhanced it for me - I felt like I was IN the movie a couple of times!
Bridges' Flynn in Legacy is much more a reflection of the Dude, but since the Dude is one of my heroes, man, it was fun for me. One doesn't have to have seen the first Tron to enjoy Legacy, but it does add another layer if the viewer has seen it.
Within all the crash, bang and flash there's still a heart and a bit of morality to think about afterward. But, it's not so heavy that it gets in the way of having a good time and enjoying yourself.
Go - have fun and let yourself be swept along on a light cycle!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Downey IS The Iron Man

Iron Man isn't just another special effects film that focuses on a gimmick. Without Robert Downey, Jr. inside all that metal, the Iron Man still would have been a cool flick, but with him it's far more. Downey is an intelligent and very underrated actor (a situation he's largely responsible for, but that's another story) and he brings it to the fore here. The story is well-written and smart, without beating the viewer over the head with its messages - though the messages are definitely there. Jon Favreau is a funny, funny guy and his direction excellent here. I loved his Hitchcock-type cameo too. This is a great cast - Bridges' villian is just right. If the upcoming Memorial Day flicks are this good, we viewers are in for some great times at the movie house, if you ask me.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Jack & Morgan - National Entertainment Treasures!

Regardless of what the critics say about the film being predictable, maudlin, manipulative, etc. - ignore them and see it anyway! See it because Nicholson and Freeman are the best and they bring gold to anything they touch. See it because it makes you think and feel. How bad can that be?
An aside to newelca from Amherst, try not to give away too much in reviews - don't tell people who dies, etc. Let viewers figure out for themselves where things are going.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
