This was an amazing documentary exosing the hypocricy of those who proclaim themselves to be proponents of the First Amendment, free thought, free exchange of ideas (so long as the ideas don't challenge their religion: Darwinism).
So let's say there is no intelligent design, why not just dismiss the idea comically as you would dismiss any other wacky idea? Why get so angry? I think it is because the idea of "intelligent design" hints at the possible existence of a God, and if scientist were allowed to openly play with ideas that might point to Him (because it already does), then all the people who have lived their life under the belief that they are accountable to no one, have to face the possiblity of an Intelligence, an author of a Moral Code, that they migh be held accountable to, and it is not comfortable.
There are many ideas initially suppressed by science which caught up with Scripture, the earth being round, the stars incalculable, etc.
If intelligent design is such an unintelligent theory, then let people evaluate and decide for themselves; why fear?
